Artist Statement

  • I consider my artwork to be an ongoing investigation of the ordinary. Recurrent themes of aftermath and loss are derived from a larger fascination with the human experience of inhabiting Time. I view the contemporary landscape as a fragile, fabricated habitat – a place at once gorgeous and anxious with human longing and expectation. Displacement and juxtaposition are elemental characteristics of what I perceive to be a world in upheaval. My paintings use commonplace features of suburban living to signal both solace and indifference in a landscape undergoing and altered by calamities, both large and small.
