Process
Works on paper, such as the ones offered for sale here, are a critical component of my painting practice. They also function as an important vehicle of translation - a necessary bridge between sketch and painting.
Executed on archival quality paper in a wide range of materials (wet and dry), the imagery is reinvented and edited in many variations.
This process allows me to understand an image more completely, assess the impact of scale on a composition, introduce color and decide if the imagery is something I want to pursue further as a “cut-out” painting on wood, or as a composition on stretched canvas.
These works on paper get pinned up while they are being made and many more times when they are used as a reference for larger work. These one-of-a-kind, works often have pinholes and messy reverse sides, which indicate both how they are made and how they function in ongoing studio endeavors.
Offering these work for sale unframed keeps them affordable and easy to ship.
See Displaying Your New Art Work for suggestions on framing.
I am sincerely grateful for your support.
